Welcome to The Wessex Organic Movement Web Site

WORM's membership ranges over the whole of the Wessex region, including Wiltshire, Dorset, Somerset, as well as parts of Hampshire and East Devon. Our members include organic farmers and smallholders, organic gardeners, businesses involved in producing, distributing or marketing organic produce and other people with an interest in organic food and farming.

WORM aims to raise public awareness about organic food and farming issues and to form a link between growers and customers. We promote the consumption of locally grown organic food and encourage people to grow their own food organically. WORM is a local Soil Association Group and associated to Garden Organic the national charity for organic growing.

The Wessex Organic Movement History

Pat F's Polytunnel & chair. The Wessex Organic Movement has been established for many years but with the rapidly growing interest in organic food, biodiversity and sustainability, our membership has grown and our activities likewise.

We are a local Soil Association (SA) group also affiliated to the Henry Doubleday Research Association (HDRA) and the British Trust for Conservation Volunteers (BTCV). We welcome members from any other organisation or certification body.

Our aim is to promote the aims of the HDRA, SA and BTCV within our area and to raise public awareness about organic food and farming issues; attempt to form a link between the growers and the customers; to promote the consumption of locally grown organic food thereby reducing the cost and pollution of many miles of transportation, as well as safeguarding the employment of local people. Wherever possible we hope to help people to grow their own food and increase their knowledge of techniques and methods thereby protecting the environment and wildlife.
